The city councilors decide: The review of all cycle paths is the task of a working group.

In order to achieve this, an old friend needs to be reactivated.

Wolfratshausen – Loisachstadt has had the title of “bicycle-friendly municipality” since 2018.

But there is still plenty of potential for optimization, said a woman from Wolfratshausen at the citizens' meeting in mid-December.

Your request that all cycle paths in the city should be inspected by an independent engineering firm has now been placed on the agenda of the city council's building committee.

The expert committee modified the application: the job should not be taken over by an engineering office, but by the city's “Cycle Route Concept” working group.

However, as CSU city councilor and cyclist Renate Tilke noted at the meeting, “unfortunately this project group has not been active for a long time”.

Everything is put to the test

The employees of the town hall planning and environment department accepted the application from the citizens' meeting.

In the meeting template, Anna Scholz pointed out to the decision-makers: Among other things, it should be noted that the city of Wolfratshausen “is not the road construction authority for all routes”.

It must be considered “which routes should be examined”.

If the committee supports this, the administration would have to solicit offers.

And: There is no money in the 2024 budget for the desired cycle path review.

“Additional funding would need to be approved.”

Wolfratshausen wants to remain a bicycle-friendly community - “there is a lot to improve”

There is “a lot to improve” when it comes to bike-friendliness, Tilke noted.

She preferred the “cycle route concept” working group to an external engineering firm - and found Green City Councilor Dr.

Hans Schmidt is a supporter of this suggestion: “It would be good if the group literally started pedaling again,” said Schmidt.

Susanne Leonhard followed the discussion from the visitors' gallery in the meeting room.

The long-time head of the city's building department, now retired, can rightly be described as the driving force behind the project group.

During her term of office, Leonhard put a lot of passion into the interests of cyclists in the rafting town.

“She could...,” City Councilor Schmidt began a sentence and looked at the visitors’ gallery.

“Maybe volunteer?” Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner (BVW) smiled – and promised: “I’ll ask.”

Anyone who knows Leonhard knows that she finds it difficult to say no when it comes to cycling.

It is quite possible that the working group will be revived in the near future.
