Due to the closure of Martin-Huber-Straße in Dachau, many drivers are switching to Ostenstraße.
A truck has already gotten stuck in the underpass several times.
“There wasn't much missing, the truck would have fit through the underpass, but it wasn't enough either.” The words of Wolfgang Reichelt, press spokesman for the Dachau fire department, describe the dilemma in which the 54-year-old truck driver probably found himself had: He decided to go through the underpass on Ostenstrasse, but misjudged it, as the Dachau police said.
The Karlsfelder's truck got stuck halfway in the underpass, the roof of the 7.5-ton truck was shaved off, rolled up and remained lying on the sidewalk.
The damage to the Mercedes truck amounts to around 5,000 euros; according to the police, there was no damage to the bridge.
The Dachau fire department secured the scene of the accident.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Dachau newsletter.)
Due to the current closure of Martin-Huber-Straße and the slow traffic on Ostenstraße and thus through the railway underpass, truck drivers are often getting into trouble: turning in front of the construction site is difficult, so they may be hoping to get through the underpass unscathed.
That doesn't always go well.
The city now has a large number of signs pointing out the diversion - and the height of the underpass.
