Le Figaro Marseille
This is a first in Marseille.
In a press release, the new Bouches-du-Rhône police prefect, Pierre-Edouard Colliex, announces the ban on the Plaine carnival this Sunday from 6:30 p.m.
For around twenty years, this carnival, which is never declared, has been held in the city center of Marseille.
The demonstration, which starts from Place Jean-Jaurès, defines itself as militant and protestant, and was particularly talked about nationally in 2021, when thousands of people marched in the city center of Marseille in the midst of a health crisis.

In previous years, police officers had been injured following the demonstration and street furniture had been damaged.
The police headquarters also prohibits the carrying of weapons and the use of pyrotechnic articles from Saturday noon, as well as the sale of alcohol around Place Jean-Jaurès all day Sunday.
The police chief has also authorized the use of drones to secure the area.
Violators face a fourth class fine.

“a politicized event”
generating
“very significant nuisance. »

,” demands the press release.
The carnival will begin this Sunday at the beginning of the afternoon.
