For an unknown reason, a Fiat driver (48) from Munich lost control on the A9 motorway near Garching on Thursday and drove into a road divider between the A9 and A99.
He was taken to the hospital.
Garching
- As the police report, the man was driving his Fiat Ducato plus trailer on the A9 motorway in the direction of Munich around 10 p.m., in the area of the Munich-Nord motorway junction.
Here the road has been expanded with three lanes of the main road and a transfer lane to the A99 in the direction of Stuttgart.
The Munich driver drove into the first lane and then turned right, hit the road divider with the right front side and pushed it together.
The impact caused the vehicle to flip and overturn.
The Fiat hit the guardrail ten meters later, was thrown onto the A9 and came to rest on the driver's side.
The driver was trapped in the cab and had to be freed by the Garching fire department.
He suffered bruises and cuts on his face and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Fiat economic total loss
His car was badly dented all around and was no longer drivable.
According to the police, it is likely to be a total economic loss.
There was also damage to the underside of the trailer.
The car and trailer had to be towed away.
The amount of damage is around 20,000 euros.
The road divider was severely damaged by the impact.
In addition, the protective barrier behind the road divider is damaged.
There were punch marks on the road from the impact.
VW Golf drives over accident parts
A little later, a 30-year-old from Munich was on the route.
He drove his VW Golf over the vehicle parts lying around on the highway, causing the Golf to suffer minor damage to the front.
Damage here: around 1500 euros.
Due to leaking operating materials, the Munich-Nord motorway maintenance department was called in and cleaned the road.
The total damage is estimated at 20,000 euros.
Due to the rescue work on site, the A9 had to be closed for around two hours and traffic was diverted via the A99.
In addition to two patrols from the Freising traffic police, the Munich-Nord motorway maintenance department and the Garching fire department with five vehicles and 30 emergency services were at the scene of the accident.
