A minor, born in 2006 and suspected of having fatally stabbed an 18-year-old in Paris during a brawl between rival gangs, will be presented Friday to an investigating judge for possible indictment for assassination, said the parquet.
A judicial investigation for assassination and participation in a criminal association with a view to committing a crime was opened on Friday, added the prosecution, requested by AFP.
The minor was requested to be placed in pre-trial detention, he added.
He is suspected of having fatally stabbed an 18-year-old young man late Tuesday afternoon on rue de l'Église, in the 18th arrondissement of the capital.
A source close to the case specified that the victim had received several stab wounds to the chest.
Possible context of rival gangs
The young man was arrested near the scene of the brawl quickly after the incident by the police.
“The acts are likely to have been committed in a context of rival gangs
,” the prosecution argued.
The investigation, entrusted to the 2nd judicial police district, was initially opened for intentional homicide.
The reclassification of the facts as assassination suggests that in light of the elements obtained by the investigators and/or during the suspect's custody, the premeditation of this act was accepted.
