Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Entrance to the Partnachklamm in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is becoming more expensive.

The majority of the market town council decided to increase the prices.

The decision was not without controversy.

Decision of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market town council: Visiting the Partnachklamm will be more expensive - the price will probably increase from May

However, the finance committee's proposed new price list for the Partnachklamm entrance met with clear opposition at the most recent meeting of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market town council on Thursday (March 14), especially from the SPD parliamentary group.

In particular, the increase in prices for children caused outrage - because they will soon have to pay five euros instead of the previous three euros for the gorge visit.

SPD councilor Kathrin Rotter-Heinle proposed a family card - but this raised many questions, for example how “family” should be defined.

When Alexandra Roos-Teitscheid (Greens) pointed out that such an offer already existed in the form of a holiday pass, Rotter-Heinle replied that this offer was limited to the summer holidays, which she did not see as sufficient.

The SPD councilor would like to continue to fight for “socially disadvantaged families” because there are families who “simply cannot afford” a trip to the Partnachklamm.

The cost problem still remains: the Partnach Gorge, its maintenance and, above all, the increasingly expensive safety precautions must be financed.

At the same meeting, among other things, an early release of budget funds amounting to 90,000 euros for rockfall protection nets in the gorge was unanimously approved.

The amount of back and forth during the votes on this proposal caused noticeable frustration in the meeting room, especially since this is not the first time that the Partnachklamm has caused bitter debates in the committee.

“It's the same every time, especially when it comes to the Partnachklamm,” complained the visibly annoyed Mayor Elisabeth Koch (CSU).
