Twenty-two police officers were requisitioned this Thursday evening by the Compiègne public prosecutor to carry out a vast operation in

It is around 6:30 p.m. this Thursday and the “punch” operation begins.

Twenty-two police officers from the Compiègne police station, reinforced by officials from Creil but also municipal police officers, are in position in the Clos des Roses district in Compiègne.

“Scouting was done during the day on the deal points,” confides one of them.

We have identified sellers, know their clothes of the day.

Consumers were interviewed.

We are ready.

Barely had the convoy of police vehicles arrived at the entrance to the neighborhood when the alert was already raised among the lookouts.

A swarm of young people are screaming, trying to escape.

Quickly, they are caught in a pincer movement.

In a few minutes, four people were arrested, including two minors.

“We have two suspected sellers, including the “piggy bank”, the one who keeps the money,” explains Commissioner Francis Vincenti.

“The dealers control the residents”

The “piggy bank” was found in possession of 2,000 euros in cash.

Then arrives Max, the dog specializing in the search for narcotics.

In a few moments, the animal uncovers bags of narcotics outside a building lobby, hidden in the recess of a pole, which will be sent for analysis.

“It is very strong and can even find buried substances.

There are many hiding places,” confides his master.

This operation follows a requisition from the Compiègne public prosecutor, Guillaume Dupont.

When he arrived last December, he promised a merciless fight against drug trafficking.

Present on the scene with Guillaume Théobald, the deputy prosecutor in charge of narcotics, they do not want to let anything go.

“These large-scale operations will be repeated.

Not a week goes by without us having to judge individuals for trafficking of this kind, including too many minors,” observes the prosecutor.

The neighborhood is patrolled on a daily basis, by patrols which circulate day and night, punctuated by more massive operations.

If the traffickers are still on the streets, the deal points have decreased.

“We have lost quite a few in a few years.

Today, there are only two main ones left,” testifies Joël De Araujo, head of the municipal police.

The local police officer has known this neighborhood for 30 years.

“We have calls every week.

The dealers control the residents, but some dare to speak.

We see idle families, nannies under duress, who cannot oppose these networks and become accomplices by storing drugs in their homes.

» “This is why we have no alternative,” says Guillaume Théobald.

Not intervening means letting the trafficking continue.”
