Candidates from Hesse also appear again and again in Heidi Klum's model show Germany's Next Top Model.
This is what her career looks like today.
Frankfurt - "Only one can become Germany's Next Top Model" - and sometimes it's even a candidate from Hesse.
Over the past 18 seasons, they have repeatedly faced Heidi Klum's challenges.
Some Hessians are now successful models, others have changed their career.
For 19 years now, Heidi Klum has been inviting the supposedly most beautiful women in Germany to her casting show, which graces the screens on ProSieben every Thursday at 8:15 p.m.
In its current 19th season, it has now opened the doors to all genders, much to the delight of some Hessians who finally want to take their chance as models.
Candidates from Hesse at GNTM: Many models are still successful today
In past seasons, Hesse has always been represented by strong candidates.
Lena Gercke (2006) won the first season of Germany's Next Top Model and has had a steep career since then.
She is probably one of the best known of Heidi's former protégés.
Two federal states want to take the credit for this: The model was born in Marburg (Marburg-Biedenkopf district), but in her early childhood she moved to Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony, where she grew up.
Today Lena Gercke is a successful model at fashion weeks around the world, including Berlin, Milan and Paris.
She was also regularly seen on TV as the presenter of “The Voice of Germany” until 2022.
She has been running her own fashion brand “LeGer by Lena Gercke” at About You since 2019.
Born in Hessin, she also has a famous sister.
Yana Gercke is also no stranger to TV shows.
In 2012 she wanted to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Back then, she took third place in “Our Star for Baku” and would have almost become the German successor to Lena Meyer-Landrut, who, after her ESC victory in 2010, competed again in Düsseldorf in 2011 as the defending champion.
When Lena Gercke was on the jury for “Das Supertalent” in 2014, Yana caused great amazement when she suddenly climbed onto the stage.
Today the singer lives in Marburg again and works as an assistant doctor at the Gießen-Marburg University Hospital.
Hesse can also claim second place in the debut relay.

Natascha Beil (2011) caused a stir in the 6th season of GNTM with her bright red hair.
In 2018 she looked for true love on “Love Island”, and in 2023 she took part in the TV show “Beauty & the Nerd”.
Today she has returned to her roots and works in her mother's hairdressing salon in Hasselroth (Main-Kinzig district).
She gave up modeling.
Having a solid foothold is important to the trained master hairdresser after her various casting shows.
In the 9th season of GNTM, Ivana Teklic (2014) from Bad Homburg fought her way to the winner's podium.
She reached third place and to this day successfully walks the catwalk for Christian Dior and Vivienne Westwood.
The winner of the relay is also not far from Hesse.
Stefanie Giesinger, who is probably one of the most famous German models today, comes from Kaiserslautern.
After GNTM: Former candidates from Hesse try their hand at singing and acting
In the 11th season of Germany's Next Top Model she was Heidi's sunshine.
Taynara Wolf (2016) from Offenbach took 5th place in the final of the casting show.
She then walked the catwalk at Shanghai Fashion Week and modeled for Playboy in 2020.
The half-Brazilian is currently working as a content creator and now wants to gain a foothold as an actress.
She was already seen on the big screen in the film “Valley of the Scorpions” (2019) alongside her former GNTM colleague Elena Carrière (the daughter of Mathieu Carrière reached 2nd place in 2016).
She also landed a role in the TV productions “The Teacher” and “All or Nothing”.
Taynara Wolf, finalist in the 11th season of GNTM, now wants to become an actress.

Sarah Almoril (2019) was eliminated in 7th place in the 14th season.
The model from Schlüchtern-Niederzell (Main-Kinzig district) can now be seen in well-known advertising campaigns, including Paco Rabanne and the Hugo brand from Hugo Boss.
After taking part in GNTM, she went to Berlin and lived in a shared apartment with season friend Cäcilia Zimmer.
Sarah Almoril also shows her talent vocally today.
The Hessian has been a singer since 2020 and wants to get started in the music industry, as she reveals to the Fuldaer Zeitung.
Her first song “Heartbroken Kid” reached almost a million streams.
Model and activist: Former GNTM candidates stand up for a good cause
The 15th season of Germany's Next Top Model produced two Hessian activists.
Lijana Kaggwa and Jacky Wruck, who weren't exactly friends on TV screens at the time, each got involved in a good cause after the casting show.
Lijana Kaggwa (2020) had to defend herself against severe bullying during and after her participation in GNTM.
The model from Kassel was heavily insulted online and offline, even received death threats and found poison bait intended for her dog.
After her voluntary exit in the live finale, she made serious accusations against the show and Heidi herself. Many situations were deliberately distorted for the viewer, so that the Kassel native was portrayed as a “season bitch” in a completely unjustified way, which led to the wave of hatred have led.
She had to seek psychological care because of depression and suicidal thoughts.
The broadcaster ProSieben tried to obtain a cease and desist declaration against Lijana; the legal dispute has not yet been concluded.
Today Lijana is an influencer and activist against cyberbullying.
She gives lectures in schools and at media and democracy events.

Jacky Wruck (2020) won the 15th season of GNTM.
From the small town of Kiedrich in the Rheingau-Taunus district, her path led via the casting show directly to the world's catwalks and various commercials, including for the brands Lancôme and Philipp Plein.
The Hessian was also seen as an actress in the ZDF series “Spring” in 2020 as police officer Margret.
In addition to her successful modeling career, Jacky is committed to animal welfare.
Her love for horses became particularly clear during GNTM.
On Instagram she cooperates with the organization Veto Tierschutz and is committed, among other things, to hunting dogs that are killed in Spain.

At 49 years old, Nicole Reitbauer (2023) was a sensation in the 18th season.
For the second time, candidates of all ages were allowed to take part in the casting show.
The Offenbacher achieved 5th place in the final and continued to work successfully as a model.
At Berlin Fashion Week she walked the catwalk for designer Kilian Kerner, among others.
She also criticized the show after her participation.
She and her family were treated badly by the security forces, especially during the preparations for the live final.
