The Gautinger partnership association has taken stock of the anniversary year.
The members relied on a proven board of directors in the elections.
Gauting
- The celebrations of 50 years of friendship (Jumelage) between Gauting and the southern French city of Clermont l'Hérault were the focus of the activities of the German-French-English partnership association (dfev) in 2023.
Chairwoman Adriana Scipio explained this at the general meeting on Wednesday evening in the “Forestella” restaurant. In the subsequent election, the chairwoman was unanimously confirmed in office.
Thanks to an 80 percent grant from the German-French Citizens' Fund, sponsorship from the Kreissparkasse, VR Bank, but also a lady who wishes to remain anonymous, the anniversary was celebrated in Gauting in a big way, said Scipio.
Background: As is well known, the then mayor Josef Cischeck and his Clermont counterpart Marcel Vidal officially sealed the twinning with documents in 1973.
Gauting was the first French partner community to be a pioneer in the Starnberg district.
On the occasion of Jumelage's milestone birthday, the relationship took on a “new upswing,” said the club's chairwoman.
On January 22nd, Franco-German Day, there was an online quiz with 200 participants and cinema vouchers.
For the anniversary, Gauting high school students also made videos with contemporary witnesses to the city partnership, including the former mayors Dr.
Ekkehard Knobloch and Brigitte Servatius.
The highlight of the celebrations was the visit to Clermont l'Hérault with a ceremony and the return visit to Gauting in July.
Virtual meetings with partner cities
The anniversary festivities in Gauting started on July 14th, the French national holiday, with the “Gschnazlers” from the traditional costume association and workshops.
Also on the program was the planting of berry bushes on the local school campus and the festive evening organized by the community at the Böck Inn.
On Remembrance Day, Gauting's mayor Dr.
Scipio remembered explicitly thanking Brigitte Kössinger for the dfev's commitment to “international understanding and friendship” in Europe.
“That supported and strengthened us.”
The association is currently organizing virtual meetings for young people from Patchway, Clermont l'Hérault and Gauting.
In addition, there are regular games of boules for all generations, the chairwoman reported on the lively club life.
Despite doubled expenditure of 15,200 euros for the anniversary celebrations, the association, which currently has 111 members, still has a “slight surplus” of 2,500 euros in its treasury, explained treasurer Martin Vay.
At the end of the meeting, the approximately 30 members present unanimously and with applause confirmed the former English teacher Adriana Scipio as chairwoman.
Because Pia Langer no longer ran for personal reasons, Willi Rodrian, the municipality's former partnership officer, was chosen as deputy.
Martin Vay remains treasurer and Gerti Fischer remains secretary.
The new board is complete again with the assessors Gabriele Mathes, Pia Langer, Katrin Klinger and Bethan Ilett.
