Berlin - According to the fire department, two people were critically injured in an accident in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
A car got onto the sidewalk around 12:30 p.m. on Friday and hit the two pedestrians, according to the police and fire department.
In addition, five passengers in the car were injured in the accident on Lohmeyerstrasse, at the corner of Otto-Suhr-Allee, said a fire department spokesman.
A witness to the event also required medical attention.
A total of two cars were affected.
The exact course of the accident is still unclear, said a police spokeswoman.
The “BZ” reported that a car got onto the sidewalk for unknown reasons and hit the pedestrians there.
The car then rammed a bollard and a 30 km/h speed limit sign and finally collided with the other car.
According to the fire department, 34 helpers were on site.
A rescue helicopter was also in use, the spokesman said.
