This Friday morning, a support rally brought together several dozen people in front of the gates of the Blaise-Cendrars high school in Sevran.

Inside, four teachers were responding to a summons before the principal of the establishment, accompanied by a representative of the management of departmental national education services (DSDEN).

This summons followed their participation in a video that went viral on TikTok: in a few days, these images, where students and teachers denounce the dilapidation of the high school, were viewed more than 2.6 million times.

“I am a French teacher in 93, obviously when I was pregnant, my students did not have French lessons for six months during their baccalaureate year,” says a teacher.

“I’m a student at Blaise Cendrars, of course the heating doesn’t work,” adds a teenager.

“I am a student at Blaise Cendrars in 93, obviously we don’t have a table for lessons,” says another, with supporting image.

“They are completely legitimate to speak out”

“They were accused of two things: a question of the students' image rights, which does not hold since the students themselves shot, edited and broadcast the video,” denounces Clément Bernard, mathematics teacher, representing Snes -FSU high school.

The second thing is a breach of the duty of reserve.

But these teachers are all activists and/or union representatives and/or elected to the board of directors.

They are completely legitimate to speak and they state facts, which moreover is not reproached to them.

At the end of these individual interviews, "no disciplinary procedure is initiated", indicates the rectorate this Friday afternoon, which confirms these summons "on the grounds of their presence on a video

with students, and what is more is filmed in the establishment without authorization.

There is no question here of the exercise of the right to organize, and even less of a desire to undermine it.

» “A reminder of the rule, concerning their obligation of neutrality, was made to them during the interview,” continues the rectorate.

For three weeks, teachers, parents and students have been carrying out a whole series of actions to demand more resources in the department.

Representatives of this large-scale movement for an emergency plan in Seine-Saint-Denis were received this Friday afternoon at the Ministry of National Education.
