Warning day in Germany: Sirens, cell phones and loudspeakers wail at 11 a.m.

On Thursday, sirens, cell phones and loudspeakers ring in Germany: It's warning day.
This time, however, not nationwide.

Update from March 14th, 11:24 a.m.:
While some regions in which the test alarm was supposed to take place were apparently not reached, other warning signals probably went off incorrectly.
Several people reported that the “hessenWARN” app failed shortly after 11 a.m.

“Hessenwarn also honks on the warning day in North Rhine-Westphalia.
“We Hessians also watch out for our neighbors,” says another.
Update from March 14th, 11:11 a.m.:
Sirens apparently worked wonderfully in Düsseldorf.
“Siren nice and loud because I have one right next door.
Smartphone was quiet,” writes a man on X (Twitter) about a post from the Düsseldorf fire department.
Another reports: “Unterrath everything is fine, even with the windows closed.
Handy screamed too.”
Update from March 14th, 11:04 a.m.:
The noise was apparently not as big as on the nationwide warning day.
People from Bavaria report that their cell phone went off but made no sound.
For others, the report from Katwarn or Nina arrived too early, for others too late.

Warning day in Germany: When and where sirens sound – and even loudspeaker trucks drive
First report from March 14th, 9:28 a.m.:
Kassel - On Thursday (March 14th) it will be loud in parts of Germany.
The warning day is approaching, alarm mechanisms are being checked for functionality.
At 11 a.m. sirens will ring in many places, cell phones will beep and some even loudspeaker trucks will drive through the streets.
The next nationwide warning day will take place on September 12th, the last nationwide warning day was on September 14th, 2023.

Alarm especially in Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia
Where will there be warnings on March 14th?
Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia in particular are taking part in the campaign, where nationwide warning days have been declared.
In other federal states it is likely to remain largely silent, but individual cities can join the test alarm.
The city of Munich did it the other way around: While it gets loud all over Bavaria at 11 a.m., it remains quiet in the state capital.
According to press releases from the state governments, 9,650 sirens in Bavaria and 6,150 in North Rhine-Westphalia will sound on the warning day in March.
In addition, warning apps (Nina, Katwarn, Biwapp) and cell broadcast trigger, but warning methods such as display boards, radio and TV should also be used.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, loudspeaker trucks were even announced that would drive through the streets at 11 a.m.
