Erding – The VHS invites you to a lecture on the consequences of the destruction of the rainforests on Wednesday, March 20th, 7 p.m.
Tropical rainforests are important players in global climate events.
This is particularly true of the largest contiguous rainforest areas in the Amazon.
They embody a gigantic climate machine that even influences the weather in Central Europe through the constant change of evaporation and precipitation.
In addition, it is one of the world's largest CO2 stores.
The progressive destruction of the rainforests will therefore have serious consequences for the global climate.
Dr.
Rainer Putz from the Freiburg Rainforest Institute will address these connections in his lecture and report on the exciting ecology of the rainforests as well as the situation of the increasing destruction of forests with regard to the current political situation in Brazil and the effects of Covid-19 .
And what do we have to do with the rainforest?
There will be answers to that too.
The audience will also learn what the Rainforest Institute is doing to protect the forests.
The event D2103 in the VHS Erding takes place in room B133 and lasts until around 8.30 p.m.
The Weltladen Erding will present products from the rainforest shop and present T-shirts on the theme of “Save the Rainforest” that students from the Heilig Blut girls’ secondary school designed.
The course is free, please register by calling (0 81 22) 97 87 0
