Jorge de Marco was 65 years old and was active in the protection of animals. Justice investigates what happened in the house where he was found tied.

He was born in San Isidro and spent his life in that place.

He was 65 years old, his

birthday was in September, the 7th. As a boy, he was known for being the son of the owner of

a well-known bookstore in San Isidro.

When he grew up, he was known as a lawyer, but more for being a

staunch defender of animals.

He rescued street dogs and cats, helped neighbors who did so, and attended shelters.

There was so much love that Jorge De Marco, the businessman who was murdered and tied up in San Isidro, had for animals, and so much was the hatred he felt towards those who harmed them, that for him, two of his passions could hardly coincide. : animals and shooting.

In the Federal Shooting they also knew him for being

an instructor

;

But he found it disgusting that advertisements for air rifles or hunting shotguns showed the weapons next to hunted animals.

Now, Justice is investigating what happened at the house on San José 86, near the Jockey Club.

And while the autopsy seeks to determine the cause of death, the hypothesis that De Marco had tried to defend himself against him and even fired his gun, which disappeared, is also being evaluated.

He was president of the Center for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CPCA) for some years, until less than a decade ago, but he had to hand over control of the institution to another animal defender, his last partner,

the criminal lawyer Susana Dascalaky.

De Marco had resigned due to suffering from chronic lung disease, but he never stopped activism and rescuing animals.

He and Dascalaky had been a couple for thirteen years.

Both had been militants, from a love for animals and from the right, for the conversion of the Buenos Aires City Zoo into an eco-park.

De Marco, for his part, knew how to legally obstruct projects that in the national Congress and the Buenos Aires Legislature sought to promote activities that were detrimental to animals.

They are investigating how Jorge de Marco, the businessman who was found dead in his home in San Isidor, was murdered.

In San Isidro, he was also known for

patrolling his neighborhood in search of dogs, cats and other animals that could get stressed and get lost during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

He was caring for two rescued cats when they found him dead in his house this Thursday.

How did they find Jorge de Marco?

Tied hands and feet to the bed, face down, without clothes and covered with a sheet.

This is how they found the body of Jorge de Marco (65).

He was in his house in San Isidro, and

in the middle of a messy room

.

They arrived at the home because a friend of the businessman went to find out what was happening with De Marco, why he was not answering the messages or calls.

The last contact with this friend, named Alberto, was on Wednesday night.

This friend, who is also a neighbor, discovered the horror firsthand.

He had a set of keys to De Marco's property, and upon entering he was able to corroborate two things: that his friend was already deceased and that the circumstances were violent;

and that there were no entrances to the house violated.

All the doors, windows and bars seemed to be in perfect condition, except for one window, whose retaining bar was filed or hit with an iron cutter.

However, it would not be the victim's room, where the thieves are presumed to have entered.

The inspection that the Scientific Police experts carried out aims to establish whether it was a robbery or an attempted violent robbery, which is reinforced by the state of disorder in which the house was found, and, fundamentally, how the thieves to this one.

It is a mansion in the Las Lomas neighborhood of San Isidro, a few meters from the Hippodrome.

High walls foundation the two-story house, whose ground floor windows had protective bars but those on the upper floor did not.

One of the party walls, on the Obispo Terrero street side, borders a vacant lot.

From there, it is presumed, they entered the house.

The investigation is carried out by the San Isidro Criminal Area Prosecutor's Office, with prosecutor Carolina Asprella at the head.

In an image from a nearby camera that was released, two young people are seen in the vicinity of De Marco's house.

For this reason, the hypothesis is weighed that it was

more than one thief,

which is also given to thinking because the layout of the house would make it almost impregnable for a person without help to climb walls and bars, the modus operandi that is presumed most probable.

An attempt is being made to establish whether there are any missing jewelry, cash or other assets in the house, although it was revealed that only De Marco's room would be in disarray.

Another item being sought is

a gun he owned

, which was not found in the house when police arrived.

The house did not have a security camera system, neither internal nor external, but it did have an alarm that did not sound.

A crowbar was also found, which would be the one the criminals used to enter the house.

“With other mutual friends we agreed to come at noon to see what was happening.

He lived alone, and I am the only one who has a key to the house, so when we entered we found the scene of a homicide,” said Alberto, the friend who found him.

This Friday, the mayor of San Isidro, Ramón Lanús, issued a statement to express his condolences: “I send my deep condolences and solidarity to the family and friends of Jorge De Marco, for whom we are completely available (...) The police of the province of Buenos Aires and the Municipality of San Isidro, we made available to the prosecutors all the resources we have to find the perpetrators of the incident.”

In addition, the results of the autopsy are awaited, which is being carried out at the San Fernando judicial morgue.

And they are working on the hypothesis that De Marco

would have fired a shot when he was trying to defend himself.
