Highlights: Wind farm in the Hofoldinger Forest: Tower construction begins in September. Citizen wind farm also planned in the southwest of Munich, in Forstenrieder Park. There will be six systems; Citizen participation does not take place through crowdfunding, but rather through three existing citizen energy cooperatives. The earthworks for the citizen wind farm in the Hofoldinger Forest will begin in May.

Construction of the three towers will begin in the fall.

The schedule is to start full operation in August 2025.

Otterfing

- The forest paths have been cleared for transport, preparatory work is underway: the construction of the three wind turbines in the Hofoldinger Forest is getting closer.

Otterfing's mayor Michael Falkenhahn, currently head of the supervisory board of Bürgerwind Hofoldinger Forst GmbH & Co. KG, explained to the local council the status of the construction of the small wind farm, which the communities of Otterfing, Sauerlach and Aying each want to operate together with one system.

The schedule is geared towards the target of August 2025: The wind turbines should then be in full operation.

“The necessary felling work at the three locations and the access roads has been carried out,” reported Falkenhahn.

All trees were examined carefully and larger gaps were even closed to protect animals hiding in them.

The rootstocks may only be cleared “when the hazel dormouse wakes up from its hibernation at the end of April or beginning of May and leaves the root areas,” says Falkenhahn.

The earthworks begin on May 6th.

“Among other things, cables have to be laid to the substation near Sauerlach,” says Falkenhahn.

On August 19th, the wind turbine manufacturer Enercon took over the construction site and the three concrete foundations were built one after the other.

According to the schedule, the first tower segments will grow in height from September 23rd;

The last system should be fully assembled at the end of May 2025.

“The construction crews are working their way through the three locations on a rotating basis,” explained Falkenhahn.

The first wind turbine will start trial operation at the end of March 2025.

The GmbH has now transferred a ten percent advance payment to Enercon, explained Falkenhahn.

The total cost of the wind farm is estimated at 26.728 million.

Around 450 citizens from the three communities support the energy project with ten-year small loans of between 500 and 25,000 euros.

The citizens' quota totaling almost six million euros was sold out surprisingly quickly (we reported).

“It’s a shame that not all citizens got a chance,” Falkenhahn regrets.

Meanwhile, another municipal wind farm is about to be realized in the neighboring Höhenkirchner Forest, planned by the communities of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, Egmating and Oberpframmern (one wind turbine each).

Enercon came into play here too;

After the construction of the facilities in the Hofoldinger Forest, the construction crews move a few kilometers further.

A wind farm is also planned in the southwest of Munich, in Forstenrieder Park.

There will be six systems;

Citizen participation here does not take place through crowdfunding as in the Hofoldinger Forest, but rather through three existing citizen energy cooperatives.

The communities of Schäftlarn, Baierbrunn, Neuried and Pullach are involved in the project company.
