Unterweikertshofen - Four young passengers in an Audi fled on foot after an accident in Unterweikertshofen on Thursday afternoon, but were caught by the police a short time later.

The reason for the escape quickly became clear: the driver was 16, had no driver's license and was under the influence of drugs.

At around 11:50 a.m., the 16-year-old woman from Dachau was on Sonnenstrasse in Unterweikertshofen in an Audi from a rental car company.

At the junction with Sittenbacher Straße, she ignored the right of way of a construction site truck, driven by a 55-year-old from the Eurasburg community.

The Audi was hit head-on and was no longer drivable.

After the collision, all four occupants of the Audi fled on foot in different directions.

The police immediately launched a search and were able to arrest all four people - in addition to the 16-year-old driver, three other young people or adolescents from the Dachau district - in the area.

Two of them had previously tried in vain to hide from the officers in a field of reeds.

The 16-year-old driver did not, of course, have the required driving license to drive the car.

In addition, a drug test carried out revealed that she was under the influence of amphetamine and the cannabis active ingredient THC.

How she came into possession of the rental car is also the subject of the investigation.

None of those involved were injured in the collision, and property damage amounted to around 20,000 euros.

The Eisenhofen and Unterweikertshofen volunteer fire departments secured the accident site and took over traffic management.

The operation was over after two hours.
