The housing shortage is becoming ever greater and finding a place to stay is becoming increasingly difficult.

A family was now looking for a possible heir.

Ulm – Affordable living space is becoming increasingly scarce in metropolitan areas.

This no longer only applies to large cities like Hamburg or Munich.

According to

Tagesschau

, real estate experts assume that rents in Germany's eight largest cities will rise by 8.4 percent per quarter in 2024 compared to the previous year.

No wonder, then, that the desperation of those searching is growing.

A family came up with a new idea: They advertised in the newspaper and were looking for a place to stay - but to inherit instead of buying or renting.

Young family looks for a house to inherit through a newspaper ad

In a newspaper ad under the “Single Family Homes” section, a couple draws attention to themselves with the headline “Don’t you have any heirs?”

They explain: “Unfortunately we can’t afford a house.

If you don't have an heir, we as a young family would like to be your heirs." The ad was apparently placed in the Ulm area and later posted by a user on Reddit.

Between “brazen” and “cheeky but good”: Reddit users discuss the Erb ad

In the comments under the post, opinions differ as to whether this ad is a good or bad idea.

“They could have saved the money for that,” “Los Parasitzos” or “brazenly wins,” users write about the photo.

“People are becoming increasingly desperate,” thinks one Reddit user.

Another person points out: “Suppose an older, nice couple never had children but have accumulated a few possessions.

The young people could benefit from the financial situation of the older ones and the older ones might have the opportunity to experience a family situation.

It doesn't have to be freeloading if it can be a symbiosis." One user agrees: "I think the idea is good.

It’s cheeky, but good.”
