The municipality of Kreuth is closing its tourist information center at the end of the year.
The right decision?
We asked tourism boss Christian Kausch.
Kreuth
- A valley community without its own tourist information center: Christian Kausch, managing director of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), admits when asked by our newspaper that the planned closure of the Kreuth tourist information center is a unique event on Tegernsee to date acts.
He also confirms that it is certainly a loss if there is no longer a personal contact person in the mountaineering village.
“The personal approach and service to guests remain essential to us,” assures the managing director.
Tourism boss Kausch points to changes in guest behavior
However, Kausch also points to the changing behavior of guests: more and more vacationers are turning to information and services on the Internet.
“In addition,” adds Kausch, “our centralization measures work very well.
Guests and hosts can continue to reach competent contacts both by telephone and at the four remaining tourist information centers in the valley.”
Bad Wiessee case: Here too, the rooms have been significantly reduced
When asked why the TIs remain in the other valley communities and why in Bad Wiessee a move of the TI to the town hall including renovation was recently accepted, the TTT boss says: “As already explained, personal contact is important to us Service to guests, hosts and the population is still very important.” However, opening times in other places have also been “adjusted to meet needs” in recent years.
In Bad Wiessee, for example, the TI is much more frequented, although the rooms here have now been significantly reduced.
A community with a mountaineering village label does not necessarily have to have its own TI
A personally staffed tourist information office is “not a requirement” even for a community with the mountaineering village label, explains Kausch when asked.
Within the TTT, the “Active/Mountaineering Village” product management will be further expanded because, for example, it is important “to always keep the information available on the Internet up to date and to raise awareness and direct it”.
When asked to what extent he, as a tourism expert, regretted Kreuth's step, Kausch said: "Of course it's a shame when you have to close a facility that has been working well for many years." Nevertheless, he was completely behind the decision - especially because there are no employees in the negative sense.
