The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing some sources, according to whom the investigation aims to ascertain whether the company which owns Facebook and Instagram has facilitated and profited from the illegal sale of drugs.

"The sale of illicit drugs is against our policies. Meta cooperates with authorities to help combat the sale and distribution of illicit drugs," the company said in a statement.
