The lead-up took two and a half years - now it's finally starting: The new construction of the adventure inclusion playground was started on Friday morning with a groundbreaking ceremony at Nordgraben in Miesbach.

Seven shovels were needed for this, and that shows how much effort was necessary to realize the construction project with donations and grants.

Miesbach – Sometimes it takes an unpleasant occasion to create something good.

In order for this project, which is geared towards the coexistence of disabled and non-disabled people, to emerge, bad news was first necessary.

In February 2021 it was announced that the adventure playground, which has been popular for decades, would be closed for safety reasons and that the playground equipment would have to be dismantled.

In his speech, Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller recalled how the idea of building a new adventure inclusion playground on the same site arose on the “Braunmiller Terrace” in the summer thanks to his wife Alexandra Braunmiller, who is close to the topic as a special education teacher.

This met with broad approval in the city council, but the costs were ultimately too high for the indebted city.

Incredible fundraiser

The result was an incredible fundraising campaign in which the newly created working group included Alexandra Braunmiller, Disability Representative Elisabeth Neuhäusler, Third Mayor Franz Mayer and Erhard Pohl from the city council, Rosi Griemert and Siegfried Faltlhauser, the chairman of the Miesbach Recreation Area Support Group, who once opened the playground He brought it to life and nurtured it, put in a lot of effort and, thanks to many supporters, in the end collected around 360,000 euros.

Most recently, the Catholic parish donated.

Enough to cover the costs well, as Faltlhauser found.

He thanked everyone who helped with their contribution: “We are grateful.

We wouldn’t have dared to dream that three years ago.”

360,000 euros collected

State Parliament President Ilse Aigner, who also took part in the groundbreaking ceremony, supported the project with her network, among other things, and thus established contact with Heinz Tretter from Lenggries.

His company Kristallturm actually specializes internationally in climbing gardens, but can also build playgrounds.

Nevertheless, the Nordgraben project is, to a certain extent, new territory for Kristallturm, as Tretter admitted: “We have never worked with a support association on this scale.

You can be really proud of yourself.” Especially since inclusion is the focus here and is not just taken into account a little because of the subsidies.

This also gives his company “new knowledge and new ideas”.

Tretter commented on the fact that Aigner had brought it into play as a regional and significantly cheaper alternative: “So it was a good thing that I let you win the Schafkopfen at Moscow Airport on a business trip.” Aigner, in turn, was happy “that I could give this impulse.

I’m just happy that this is happening here in Miesbach with the city.”

Inauguration expected in June

If everything goes according to plan, the adventure inclusion playground should be completed by the end of May.

The opening is scheduled for Sunday, June 16th.

Everyone is already looking forward to it.

Then, according to Mayor Braunmiller, Miesbach can look forward to a meeting place “where it is normal to be different”.
