It was certainly not an easy undertaking for Lenggries to find new hosts for the Alpine Festival Hall.

But now the successor is secured.

With a surprise visit, the community and clubs said goodbye to Gisela and Heinz Sohr and introduced the new restaurateurs and their brewery partners.

Lenggries –

For around 20 years, Gisela and Heinz Sohr served hearty food and beer in the Bistro Endstation and hosted all the clubs for their meetings and events in the Alpine Festival Hall.

This is now over.

The couple is retiring.

The bistro's doors have been closed since March 1st, and they will be hosting their last event at the end of March.

Surprise visit as a farewell party

In order to give the restaurateurs a fitting farewell, the community, clubs and companions surprised them on Thursday evening with a spontaneous visit to the Alpine Festival Hall and took the opportunity to present the successor model for the community property to the population.

As reported, Lenggries was looking for a new operator for the restaurant for over a year using an expression of interest process.

At 7 p.m., a procession with around 120 people set off at the entrance to the spa gardens and, led by the Lenggries brass band, marched into the Alpine festival hall with timpani and trumpets.

“An era is coming to an end for Lenggries,” said Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher to the visibly surprised host couple.

“We didn’t know anything about it,” said Gisela Sohr, slightly embarrassed.

As a gift, Klaffenbacher presented a caricature by Hans Reiser and a travel voucher, which the local clubs pooled together.

But it wasn't just an evening of farewell.

The new innkeepers introduced themselves and the brewery.

There are no strangers who will be running the ballroom from summer onwards.

The duo of the “Tölzer Bräustüberl”, Verena Angermaier and Tom Kriegenherdt, are looking forward to their new task and the expansion of their business.

“We know that we are the new ones here in town and will do everything we can to satisfy you,” said Angermaier in the well-attended hall.

Both bring a broad gastronomic experience.

In Munich, Kriegenherdt ran a nightclub and managed the forestry in Großhesselohe.

“What I appreciate about the Tölzer Land is the down-to-earthness and friendliness of our guests,” he emphasizes.

The first event will be a wedding at the end of June.

“We are pleased that there are already some bookings in the calendar,” says Angermaier.

Lenggries: In the future there will be Ayinger beer in the Alpenfestsaal

According to the new operators, the Bistro Endstation will not be open regularly for the time being.

“For us, the Alpenfestsaal is a good addition to the Tölzer Bräustüberl.

We are somewhat limited in terms of space there when it comes to larger events,” Angermeier continued.

The kitchen will be the same as in the “Braustüberl”.

“Our chef Tobias Neumann is responsible for both locations.”

The change in landlords is accompanied by a change in beer: instead of Spaten, Ayinger will be available from the taps in the Alpine Festival Hall.

Helmut Erdmann, brewery director at Ayinger, said in an interview with our newspaper: “We have been looking after the beer at the Lenggrieser Festwoche for two years and have thus been able to establish a good connection to the place.” He is all the more pleased that it will be possible in the future Ayinger beer “is available in the Alpine festival hall, which is very important for Lenggries.”

According to Kriegenherdt, a lot of new things will be done in the kitchen before the reopening.

“There are a few measures to be taken to ensure that all requirements are met.” According to Erdmann, the hall is also getting a new counter area.

“As a brewery, we are responsible for that.”
