A gendarmerie letterhead, accompanied by the slogan “Our commitment, your security”.

The subject: “Exclusive allocation of places for the events of the 2024 Olympic Games”.

Tantalizing.

We can read that the management of the national gendarmerie and, more broadly, the Ministry of the Interior wish to thank its staff by donating places.

This message was sent recently, in the middle of the night, to the 9,000 gendarmes and deputy gendarmes in the Île-de-France region (RGIF).

But be careful, danger.

Because several signs indicate that this email may be dubious.

First, the address in “gendarmerieinterieur-gouv.fr” instead of “gendarmerie.interieur.gouv.fr”.

Then the two mistakes in the name of the sender: “Directorate General of the National Gendarmerie”.

And finally, the signature of the email, General Xavier Ducept, who is not the director general of the gendarmerie, but the boss of the gendarmes of Île-de-France.
