Good news for Pastetten parents: All registered children will probably be accommodated in the AWO facilities there.

Pastetten – Ulrike Bittner, managing director of the AWO Ebersberg district association, gave the Pastetten local councilors a look back at the past kindergarten year and a preview of autumn 2024.

And she had good news: the chances of getting a childcare place from autumn are good.

According to Bittner, the association runs 21 daycare centers, the two Pastetten facilities are the only ones in the Erding district.

In 2016, the AWO took over the sponsorship from the municipality.

The kindergarten at the fire station offered 50 places at the time, which was expanded by one group to 75 places in 2018.

Five educators, three childcare workers, a housekeeper and a trainee educator work here.

The Pusteblume children's home has 24 crèche and 50 kindergarten places, each with six educators and nannies, a housekeeper and an intern.

All positions are currently filled.

A very good development if you look back to 2022, when the staff shortage worsened and the AWO was desperately looking for staff (we reported).

So the chances of getting a childcare place from autumn are good.

There is a place at the fire station for all registered children who will be three years old by December of this year.

“At least that is the status today,” emphasized Bittner.

For some of the children currently being looked after, the decision has not yet been made as to when they will start school.

Depending on the situation, it might also be possible to accommodate children who will turn three in January 2025.

It's similar at the Dandelion, where 16 protégés move from the crèche to the kindergarten.

14 parents have already received confirmation for the vacant places in September.

Two are on the waiting list, but they are not made of pasties.

“We always wait until the end to welcome guest children,” said the district leader.

There is still time, there could still be arrivals until autumn.

In both houses there are also integration children with increased support needs; they take up three regular places.

“The head counts are not always identical to the seat counts,” explained Bittner.

The trend among these children is increasing, as can be seen in all of the district association's houses.

Horst Ippisch (FWE) wanted to know what the personnel situation would look like in the future.

“I don’t want to sugarcoat anything, we haven’t yet reached the top when it comes to the shortage of skilled workers,” Bittner said.

To counteract this, the AWO specifically supports training positions.

In both Pastetten houses there are nannies who have qualified as specialists.

They also support that.

The AWO will then cover all costs incurred, especially for the courses, because: “We can best fill the positions if we train ourselves.”

Positioning yourself more with your pedagogical attitude in public and with parents is bearing fruit.

“Looking at it very cautiously, it’s currently paying off.

The number of applications is growing, but their quality is also improving,” says Bittner.

Ippisch asked how the community could support.

“The refinancing of training places would benefit us; it helps to finance the daycare centers as a whole,” said Bittner.

Alice Lorenz (Greens) made it clear that cheap housing could also be “a treat” for employees.
