Berlin - Three people suffered life-threatening injuries and two others were seriously injured in a violent confrontation in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
On Friday evening, a dispute broke out between two groups at a stand in the Asian wholesale market Dong Xuan Center, a police spokesman said on Saturday morning.
The confrontation escalated and knives, machetes and wooden slats were used.
The exact course of events and the reason for the dispute are still unclear, said the spokesman.
The five injured people were taken to a hospital.
The police are investigating.
