Langen - When singer Dunja Rajter (78) suddenly only saw a black bar in one eye, she was fortunately able to interpret the signs correctly: She suffered a retinal detachment a few years ago and was aware of the serious consequences.
She actually had to undergo emergency surgery in the hospital and has been worried about her eyesight ever since.

Just a few hours after noticing the signs, Dunja Rajter underwent emergency surgery.
“There is only a short window of time available for a retinal detachment, comparable to a stroke,” explains her husband Michael Eichler to

The musician only has 30 percent vision in her left eye - now her right eye is at risk of going blind.
And although the procedure went well, she still doesn't know what her chances of recovery are.

“My wife is still undergoing treatment.
There is still no concrete statement as to how it is because the gas bubble that was placed during the procedure to seal the hole that was created is still in front of the eye.
When this bubble is completely removed from the body, doctors can tell what kind of vision will come back.
“We have to wait that long,” says her partner.
Although the operation was carried out at the end of February, the couple still has to be patient and hope that Dunja Rajter's eye recovers.

Since she had already had to deal with a retinal detachment a few years ago, Dunja Rajter knew that it would be a serious procedure.
“It is an operation that requires specialists and special equipment,” explains her husband and continues: “In 2016 we got the wrong clinic and the wrong surgeon.
Unfortunately, the other eye suffered as a result.”

But the two don't give up and firmly believe that everything will turn out well.
“But now we have so much hope that we would like to give some of it away to those who don't have so much hope with their own problems,” says Michael Eichler.
There is actually concern about another pop star: Vicky Leandros (71) fell off the stage.
