Members of the environmental group “Ende Gelände” blocked access to the floating liquid natural gas (LNG) terminal in Brunsbüttel, Schleswig-Holstein, on Saturday morning.
Around 30 people took part in the action, as the group's spokeswoman told the German Press Agency on Saturday.
“Some sit on the street, others in swings.”
Brunsbüttel - The group installed four swings on a bridge over the street.
A spokeswoman for the regional control center, however, spoke of only twelve people involved.
“We are trying to enter into cooperation discussions.” So far, however, the group has not been willing to do so.
With this campaign, the group “Ende Gelände” is calling for an immediate stop to imports of liquid gas.
At the same time as the group in Brunsbüttel, climate groups in a total of six North Sea countries would demonstrate against fossil infrastructure and the exploitation of oil and gas reserves in the North Sea on Saturday, it was said.
There are also actions in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
