Some places are more inspiring than others.
It would seem that the priory of Saint-Hilaire, south of Essonne a few kilometers from Étampes, occupied an important place for 20th century artists, such as Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Georges Braque and Francis Bacon.
During an exceptional conference, the Étampes-Histoire association lifted the veil on the little-known history of this site which was “a cultural and artistic hotspot” from the 1950s to 1990s.
