“He was a friendly, generous, helpful and sociable person”: Gerhard Kraus uses these words to describe the deceased.

The former club chairman and Troppmann knew each other well.

“We both came from Upper Palatinate, which connected us in a special way.”

Mourning for Herbert Troppmann: drafted into military service one day after his 16th birthday

Troppmann was born in Wöllershof in Upper Palatinate in 1928.

One day after his 16th birthday, he was drafted into military service in December 1944.

His area of ​​operation: the defense of the city of Salzburg as an anti-aircraft gunner.

After the surrender in May 1945, the young man had to walk home from Salzburg to the Upper Palatinate.

He was taken prisoner.

His brother Rupert died in the war, his brother Anton was missing.

The trained real estate agent later found his second home in Deining.

“He really enjoyed being a Deininger,” says Kraus.

The native of Upper Palatinate also showed this through his involvement in local club life, for example as a member of the traditional costume and sports club.

“Many Deiningers learned from him about a time that they themselves did not experience - and hopefully will never have to experience,” the veterans remember in their letter.
