The Piedmont Democratic Party has found unity at the last minute on the name of the presidential candidate for the next regional elections:
it is Gianna Pentenero

"We arrived at this assembly with two motions - stated the regional secretary Domenico Rossi, closing his report - but in these hours a unified scenario has developed which sees the willingness of Chiara Gribaudo and Daniele Valle not so much to take a step back, I would never ask for this, but to take a step aside. And this was also done thanks to the willingness of a person, Gianna Pentenero, to run for the presidency of Piedmont in the next regional elections".
Gianna Pentenero, 60 years old next June, has a long experience in the political field and is currently councilor of the Municipality of Turin for work, productive activities, municipal police and security policies, information systems, metropolitan area, coordination of policies for multiculturalism.
With a university education as an educator, it is the profession that Pentenero carries out outside of politics.
She was the mayor of Casalborgone (Turin), from the early nineties to the early 2000s, she was elected in the Region in 2005 and had worked as councilor for education and professional training in the Bresso council.
She was re-elected in 2010 in the regional council, she was also re-elected in 2014, once again receiving the position of councilor for education, work and professional training, in that case in the Chiamparino council.
"I thank Valle and Gribaudo, because they never played an individual match, but they worked to unite. The work they did was serious, important and aimed at building: if it weren't like this, I wouldn't be here now."
This is the debut at the PD regional assembly of the party's surprise presidential candidate for the next regional elections, Gianna Pentenero, the name on which the party has regrouped in Piedmont.
"From now on - stated Pentenero - hard and complex work awaits us. I would like us to build this path quickly and all together, in the knowledge that we can do it: nothing is impossible".
In her brief speech, Pentenero recalled that she had "already served this Region with two great presidents, Mercedes Bresso and Sergio Chiamparino, and the city of Turin with the mayor Stefano Lo Russo".
"In a situation completely different from the current one - remarked the new candidate - we worked a lot and built a lot".
