There are new festival hosts and therefore a folk festival in Weilheim in 2024: This news alone made many people rejoice - even if there was hardly any further information to date.

But who are the new heads of the “Weilheimer Wiesn”?

Weilheim – They bring experience from the Munich Oktoberfest, and their concept scores “especially in the area of regionality”.

Jutta Liebmann, head of the “Location Promotion, Culture and Tourism” department in the Weilheim town hall, emphasized this when she announced to the city council at the end of October that new hosts had been found for the traditional Weilheim folk festival and that it could therefore take place again in 2024 (we reported).

Not much more was known at the time.

And the mere news was enough to put many people in Weilheim in a festive mood.

After the surprising withdrawal of long-time festival host Peter Schöniger, the city announced last summer that there would be no “Weilheimer Wiesn” in 2024.

You have often been to the Weilheim folk festival

It is thanks to Andreas Avi (50) and Andreas Krems (51) that things will now turn out differently and that things will get busy again at the Weilheim festival site from May 9th to 20th.

Her “Krems & Avi GbR” takes care of the marquee and the catering in Schöniger’s successor;

The showman's park is organized by the Georg Kraus showman's company.

Weilheim is well known to all of them.

He has been at the local folk festival for eight years, Avi reports in an interview with the local newspaper: He offered a snack here including a small beer garden and was also there with his chain plane.

“And for eight years,” he adds, “there hasn’t been any trouble here.”

The innkeepers rave: “Weilheim is a beautiful place”

In general, Andreas Avi is impressed with the district town.

“Weilheim is a beautiful place,” enthuses the 50-year-old, “everything fits together here: the people, the support, the flair.”

The Weilheimer Volksfest is “a wonderful family event where everyone gets behind it.”

And it fits in perfectly with Krems and Avi's other activities: their “large traveling beer garden” is always set up on the Theresienwiese at the Munich Spring Festival and the Oktoberfest.

They run the historical museum tent at the “Oidn Wiesn”.

And the Unterhachinger Bürgerfest in July has also been their territory for over ten years.

There will be a Ferris wheel at the Weilheimer Volksfest 2024

Your tent at the Weilheimer Volksfest will be around 40 meters long, explains Avi when asked by Tagblatt, plus a “20 meter beer garden”.

Everything is designed to be “very open and family-friendly” and there are around 2,000 seats in total.

What is new is that they offer a lunch menu every day with changing dishes and reduced prices (“including dishes that are not on the normal menu”).

The tent will be opened every day from 11 a.m.

As far as the fairground park is concerned, the innkeeper reveals that there will be a Ferris wheel on site this year: “We are very proud of it.

This can be done maybe every three years.”

And what about regionality?

“Our butcher, for example, is the Weilheim company Klobeck,” replies Avi, “also at the Oktoberfest, by the way.”

Also pay attention to regional offers when shopping.

And last but not least, the region is musically represented in the festival tent: “We were approached by a few groups and were happy to include them in the program.”

The new innkeepers bring “high environmental standards” with them from Oktoberfest

Weilheim's location promoter Jutta Liebmann is also pleased that the two innkeepers “bring the high environmental standards that apply there” from their involvement at the Oktoberfest.

The contract with Krems and Avi was initially concluded for two years, “with an option to extend”.

That's common, says Liebmann, "but we'd like to have it for the long term."

It looks as if that would also be in the spirit of the new festival hosts.
