The construction of two psychiatric day hospitals in Wolfratshausen has started.

The Kbo expects 5,000 outpatients per year.

Wolfratshausen – It is a prestigious project and closes a huge gap: the construction of two psychiatric day clinics and psychiatric institute outpatient clinics has begun.

The kbo-Lech-Mangfall-Kliniken and the kbo-Heckscher-Klinikum are building together on the property of the former forestry office on Königsdorfer Straße.

The clinic has a total of 36 day clinic places - 20 for adults, 16 for children and adolescents.

The offer is urgently needed: up to 250 adults and at least as many minors are to be treated there as part-time inpatients each year.

According to a press release, 5,000 people will be cared for annually by the psychiatric institute outpatient clinics, which are part of the building as well as a school for the underage patients.

The construction pit is currently being dug, and the two day clinics and outpatient clinics are scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2025, as kbo press spokeswoman Barbara Falkenberg announced in a statement.

It is a “project with a lighthouse character”.

The kbo attaches great importance to sustainable construction: “The facade will be made of renewable material, the roof will be equipped with a photovoltaic system and extensively greened, the entire building will be heated with pellets.”

A patient garden is planned outside, and an underground car park with 13 parking spaces is intended to relieve the parking situation.

The three-story building is planned to be barrier-free throughout.

“I am pleased that with the new kbo day clinics in Wolfratshausen we are a lot closer to our goal of establishing day clinic and outpatient services for adults, children and young people in every Upper Bavarian district,” said kbo CEO Franz Podechtl .

“Important building block”: Start of construction for psychiatric day clinics

District Council President Thomas Schwarzenberger speaks of an “important further building block for comprehensive care – especially for children and young people”.

In the press release, the kbo explains the special features of the clinic.

“The patients benefit from intensive and structured therapy methods and can still remain in their usual family environment.” The therapeutic spectrum of the facilities includes modern guideline-oriented psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment, and is supplemented by “a multimodal therapy program with ergo-, creative- and movement therapy offers”.

State-of-the-art treatments round off the range of therapies – such as neuromodulation procedures such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.

In short: “The complete range of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic therapies” is available.

“For patients in the district, the day clinic and its affiliated institute outpatient clinic represent a long-awaited milestone in psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care,” says Prof. Dr.

Michael Landgrebe.

According to the medical director of the kbo-Lech-Mangfall Clinics, this means that many affected people no longer have to seek inpatient treatment.

A special feature is the facility for minors.

“The multi-professional child and adolescent psychiatric treatment concept in the day clinic makes it possible to work intensively with our young patients, but also with their caregivers, in order to achieve lasting therapeutic success,” says Dr.

Katharina Bühren, Medical Director of the kbo Heckscher Clinic.
