The president of the Chamber of Deputies,
Martín Menem
, came out to question the senators who this Thursday rejected Javier Milei's DNU.
Furthermore, while the Government and the dialogue opposition negotiate to freeze the processing of the decree,
he put pressure
on the lower house to approve the presidential initiative.
And in case it does not prosper, he warned:
"The course is not negotiated."
In a text published on his social networks, Menem expressed surprise by highlighting that it is the first time in 30 years that a chamber - in this case the Senate - rejected a DNU.
"Very crazy, right?"
he commented on Thursday's 42 to 25 vote in the chamber led by the vice president, Victoria Villarruel.
Then, the leader directly blamed Kirchnerism for the current economic crisis, arguing that his 16-year management in the last 20 has left a legacy of economic failure.
In this sense, he accused those who reject the DNU of being complicit in the current situation.
He warned, with irony, about the
"sudden attack of 'constitutionalism'" of the legislators who opposed the decree
, a situation in which Kirchnerism, the left, legislators from provincial blocs and two from radicalism were left.
Furthermore, he denounced that some are trying to distort the will expressed by Argentines at the polls on November 19, 2023, when Milei won with 56 percent of the votes.
He immediately set his sights on the Chamber of Deputies, where the DNU should be discussed.
A final would be played there: if they approve it, the decree remains in force;
If they reject it, it is definitively invalidated.
DNU / TAKE NOTE (thread)
It was in 1994 that the DNU (decrees of necessity and urgency) were given constitutional status.
It is striking that Thursday was the first time in 30 years that a chamber (The Senate) rejected a DNU.
Very crazy, right?
Even more so when it comes to a…

"We hope that the Chamber of Deputies that represents the people does not turn its back on society and legitimizes the true power of representation that proclaimed President Milei, and LET HIM GOVERN," he said on Twitter, with the appropriate capital letters.
In any case, the head of the Lower House warned that, if the Deputies also reject the decree, the Government will continue with the reforms proposed during the campaign with the tools available within the political system.
"The course is not negotiated," he closed ranks with the Casa Rosada.
