“Zukunft Markt Schwaben” (ZMS) nominates Ronny Schreib (46) as candidate for mayor.

The early vote became necessary following the resignation of officeholder Michael Stolze.

Markt Schwaben

– Ronny Schreib (46) is the candidate of the “Zukunft Markt Schwaben” voter group for the upcoming mayoral election in the market town, which will probably take place on June 9th.

The early vote became necessary because the incumbent mayor Michael Stolze (independent) had announced his withdrawal from the town hall (we reported).

Elected unopposed

In the vote at an extraordinary general meeting on Sunday, Schreib, who is already a local councilor, received 19 votes and one abstention.

He had no opposing candidates.

Schreib's council colleagues Sascha Hertel and Wolfgang Korda were also nominated, but both of them decided not to run.

Lively town center is an important topic

In his application speech, Schreib named three points as important areas of his policy: the creation of a lively town center and an active local life, the promotion of leisure and local recreation opportunities and a sustainable design of transport.

This “tangled issue” must finally be addressed, said the candidate.

He also sees an advantage in the fact that he lives in Markt Schwaben, so he can be there all the time and “not travel in the neighboring district”.

That was a swipe at the incumbent official, Michael Stolze, who lives in Forstern.

Regarding Stolz's withdrawal, he said: Everyone has probably been on the verge of panic at some point and thought that it was no longer possible.

But as an elected person you also have responsibility.

He is aware of the challenge.

Schreib emphasized that for him communication and listening are “incredibly important”.

Market Swabia now needs someone to bring people together.

“But you can’t please everyone either.”

The ZMS candidate, married with two children, was born in Erding, grew up in Poing and attended high school in Markt Schwaben.

He has lived in the market town since 2003.

Schreib currently works in the insurance industry in Munich.

Schreib joined the CSU in 2007 and was a member there until 2018.

Then he stepped out.

“The party banter made me incredibly excited.” That led away from what really counted, namely the Swabian market.

True non-partisan candidate

“This time there will be a truly impartial candidate,” said ZMS board member Wolfgang Korda: “It will be a hectic time.

The election campaign has started on our part.”

Campaign start for the “Wandering Chairs”

And that started immediately after the meeting.

Portrait photos were taken at the market square.

Right next to it, the new citizens' initiative “Market Swabia Together” had its “Wandering Chairs” campaign.

People should be able to talk to each other freely.

“I think that’s cool,” said Schreib on site.

“Exactly what I say.”

Citizens' initiative satisfied with action

The organizers were satisfied with the event.

“We were actually just hoping that all the chairs that were set up would be occupied,” said Andreas Gammel (30).

“However, there were a lot more people.” Around midday there were around 25 people in the square.

There was coming and going.

In total there were probably over 100 people.

45 have registered on lists to receive further information.

“It was a colorful mix,” said co-organizer Iulia Moaca (30).

The topics ranged from asylum to the design of the place, possibly together with art.

“It was our first, but not our last, action,” announced Gammel.
