The Gauting fire department was called to more operations in 2023 than ever before.

The 150th anniversary celebrations are approaching - two years late.

Gauting

– Last year, the Gauting Volunteer Fire Department recorded a record number of operations and hours of service to the community.

As Commander Alexander Jung announced at the annual meeting, the 82 active members were called to a total of 242 missions.

This represents a significant increase compared to the previous average of 160 operations per year. 25 fires alone - including the serious fire in the Hanrieder stationery store in May - as well as 80 storm operations challenged the emergency services.

According to Jung, the hours that the men and women spent on missions, exercises and further training amount to 14,000.

Another 1,500 hours are spent on administrative work, events, public relations and other activities at the fire department association.

Board member Martin Strasser described the past year as “challenging and fulfilling”.

In addition to the operations, the fire department was present at 30 events.

He specifically mentioned the annual Christmas tree campaign with 718 trees collected.

Particular attention was paid to the youth group, which is represented on the board by youth spokesman Marius Worms.

Second mayor Jürgen Sklarek, district fire chief Klaus Ringhoff, flag mother Silvia Haller and Stockdorf's deputy commander Ludwig Gröber expressed their appreciation.

The community wants to do everything to ensure that the fire department is well equipped and satisfied, said Sklarek.

Nevertheless, there are also challenges to be overcome, as Commander Jung reported.

“Radio problems, blocked access roads and traffic-related delays in getting there are always obstacles,” the statement says.

There is also an urgent need for action in the construction of a new fire station, as the current building is increasingly showing deficiencies.

As reported, the old fire station is to be replaced by a new one at the same location on Münchener Straße.

“I hope that the planning will move forward quickly,” said Jung.

“There is an urgent need for action.”

Festival weekend in July
