There is no specific terror warning.
Nevertheless, around 2,000 special forces from Bavaria practiced in an emergency this weekend.
Munich - In order to prepare for possible emergencies during the European Football Championship, special forces from police, customs, emergency services and the Bundeswehr from Germany and Austria trained intensively for two days.
A terrorist attack with around 2,000 participants was re-enacted in the regions of Middle Franconia and Upper Palatinate.
“We always have to reckon with what we all hope will never happen,” said Joachim Herrmann, Bavaria’s Interior Minister from the CSU, on Sunday afternoon in Sulzbach-Rosenberg.
There he attended the final exercise of the “Counter Terrorism Exercise 2024” (CTE) project.
Terrorist attack simulation: Special forces train in an emergency in Bavaria
There are no specific terror warnings, the minister emphasized.
The hypothetical scenario involved terrorists attempting to direct a drone carrying explosives into a crowd.
Shots by a sniper from a roof at emergency services were also simulated, as was a knife attack in a building where football fans had retreated.
In addition, shots were re-enacted in a subway station and a hostage-taking in an editorial building, a police spokesman said.

In addition, protection against chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear threats was practiced.
The training took place mainly on the police and Bundeswehr premises in Nuremberg, Roth, Sulzbach-Rosenberg and Amberg.
The emergency services have impressively shown “that, hand in hand, they are well-equipped to deal with a wide range of dangers and threats,” said Herrmann.
The last CET took place twelve years ago in Schleswig-Holstein.
