The administrative court of appeal of Versailles (Yvelines) has given new impetus to the development of an 8-screen Megarama cinema, with 1,289 seats.
In its deliberations on February 29, justice rejected the requests brought by the Kinepolis of Brétigny-sur-Orge and the company Espace Loisirs, owner of the CGR of Évry-Courcouronnes.
The two cinemas requested the cancellation of the decision taken in February 2022 by the national cinema planning commission granting the development of this project.
The Versailles Administrative Court of Appeal notably considered that this project “will contribute to improving the exposure of the cinematography offer in the area.

Work to begin in early 2025
Reached by telephone, the mayor is satisfied... But not calm.
The elected official is today “suspended” from the action that the two applicants will take.
The latter have two months to refer the matter to the Council of State.
“I wrote to them both, asking them to stop wasting our time,” says Philippe Rio.
We had the unanimous agreement of the commission, the administrative court of appeal of Versailles has just ruled in our favor.
I doubt that the Council of State will make another decision.
All they can gain is time.

Time up to 18 months, the duration of the new instruction.
“I appeal to their responsibility.
If all goes well, we could start work no later than early 2025, continues the mayor.
At the same time, by coincidence, we are going to destroy the historic Grande-Borne cinema, which has been closed for years.
