Tobias Cako is the new Erdinger district representative of the Maltese relief service.

He announces that he will be committed to volunteer work.

The tasks would have to be distributed among as many shoulders as possible so that they remain manageable for the individual.

Erding

– Tobias Cako has been appointed as a volunteer district representative of the Malteser relief service in Erding, the relief organization announced.

Accordingly, Cako replaces Franz Graf von La Rosée, who held the office in addition to his role as regional manager of the Maltese Bavaria and has now resigned from the office of district representative after more than six years.

For his special services to Maltese volunteer work, state representative Stephanie Freifrau von Freyberg awarded La Rosée with the Maltese merit plaque in silver “as a sign of recognition and thanks for special services to fulfilling the Maltese mission,” according to the press release.

The new representative, who previously represented La Rosée for several years, is now leading the Malteser in Erding together with district manager Sebastian Oberpriller.

He will continue to carry out his position as head of operational services, which he has held since 2018.

Cako has been active for the aid organization for more than 25 years and is employed as an emergency paramedic at the Maltese rescue station at Munich Airport.

Within the district management, Cako is responsible for the activities of volunteers in the district and a group at the airport.

The Maltese in Erding, with around 60 volunteers, are primarily involved in disaster control, the letter says.

Another area is “social volunteer work”.

Here the volunteers would give primarily older people moments of joy and community with visits or rickshaw rides.

Cako would like to work to create good conditions for volunteer work.

“Anyone who volunteers and often sacrifices a lot of free time deserves to receive support and recognition,” he explains.

Good training and appreciative communication are important building blocks.

This motivates the helpers to stay despite sometimes great stress and also helps to find new volunteers.

“In special emergencies such as floods or major fires, working together to look after or supply the population or other emergency services is a very responsible and satisfying task.

“But it also has to be spread across a sufficient number of shoulders so that the individual’s time commitment remains within reasonable limits,” says Cako.

That's why we're always grateful for new helpers.
