Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Sunday) blamed the international community, in which "there are those who are trying" to bring about elections in Israel, because that is how they hope to bring the war to a halt.

In doing so, he alluded to the American administration, in which the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Senate, Senator Chuck Schumer, called for elections in Israel, and also expressed disbelief in Netanyahu, as well as President Joe Biden, who backed him.

"Since the beginning of the war, we have been fighting on two fronts - the military front and the political front," Netanyahu said at the beginning of the cabinet meeting.

"There are those in the international community who are trying to stop the war now, before all of its goals are achieved. They do this by hurling false accusations against the IDF, against the Israeli government and against the Prime Minister of Israel.

"They are doing this by making an effort to bring about elections now, in the midst of the war. And they are doing this because they know that elections now will stop the war, and paralyze the country for at least six months," he said.

He blames elements in the "international community" who are trying to bring about elections in Israel.

In his words, he turned to "our friends in the international community": "Your memory is so short? Did you forget so quickly October 7, the most terrible massacre committed against Jews since the Holocaust? So quickly are you ready to deny Israel the right to defend itself against monsters Hamas? Have you lost your moral conscience so quickly?

Instead of putting pressure on Israel, which is fighting an unjust war, against an enemy that is no crueler than it, turn your pressure against Hamas and its patron - Iran. They are the ones who pose a danger to the region and the entire world. We, in all case, we will face all the pressures, and with God's help, we will continue to fight together until complete victory."

Last week, the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, gave a speech in which he attacked Netanyahu and called for elections in Israel.

A day later, Biden backed him up and said that he "gave a good speech. I think he expressed a serious concern that not only he but many Americans share."
