The site had been envisaged since 2017, when Paris was still only a candidate city for the organization of the 2024 Olympic Games: La Villette and its immense lawn to host the future Club France, theater of French sport festivities.
Seven years later, the ambition to welcome 25,000 people every day to celebrate French athletes remains, but Club France faces difficulties that the leaders had certainly underestimated.
While the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) has already planned to invest 4 million euros of its own funds (2.5 million euros for the Paralympic committee), the bill for French sport could be much heavier than foreseen.
According to our information, losses are currently estimated at between 3 and 5 million euros, with Club France struggling to find revenue.
“Club France is in a phase where we will have to make clear choices in order to ensure its reliability.
In the imagined format, there are real areas of risk,” someone close to the matter tells us.
