The closed face of Jeanne Bessentiel (LR) struggled to mask her disappointment at the verdict rendered this Sunday evening at the end of the first round of the municipal partial elections in Garches.
If the outgoing mayor, candidate for her own re-election, takes the lead with 35% of the votes cast, she only has a very short lead over her main competitor Yves Menel (DVD), whom she is only ahead of by 177 votes and whose the “United for Garches” list totaled 32% of the votes, in a vote marked by an abstention of 40%.
At the head of the “Ensemble Garches” list on which the six opposition Renaissance elected officials (ex-LREM) had joined him, the former first deputy Bertrand Oliviero totaled 16.22% of the ballots cast, followed by the list of union of the left PS/EELV led by Isabelle Le Madec who collected 12.10% of the votes cast.
With 4.83% of the votes, the head of the RN list is the only one unable to hold on.
