Highlights: Yair Golan officially took office as chairman of the Labor Party. Gilad Karib and Naama Lazimi declared their support for him for chairman. Golan started his political career in the September 2019 elections with former Prime Minister Ehud Barak who joined Meretz. Only former minister Amr Bar Lev announced that he is considering running against Golan for the leadership of Labor Party in the primaries to be held in May. Knesset members Naama Lazimi and Gilad Karib (Labor Party) today (Sunday) expressed support for Yair Golan's candidacy for the leadership of the Labor Party.

Earlier today, Golan officially took office, and Karib and Zimi are the first MKs to express support for him. Meanwhile, only former minister Amr Bar Lev announced that he is considering running against Golan for the leadership of the Labor Party in the primaries to be held in May.



"The responsibility for change and hope is on us and ours." , said MK Naama to Zimi.

"We have an opportunity for a political-security, economic and social horizon, a horizon for life itself. This is our time, join us."



MK Rabbi Gilad Karib also joined in the conversation and said that these days what is required of us is the unification of forces and cooperation. The security-political flag, the social flag and the democratic flag."

In the last elections, Golan contested for the Meretz presidency against Zehava Galon, lost, and was elected to the list, which did not pass the threshold and did not enter the Knesset.
