"Daniel had a special combination of delicacy and sensitivity, a smile on his face, loved by everyone, never remembers raising his voice against anyone, and on the other hand - great determination," he told Walla last night (Sunday)!

Rabbi Yair Ya'akovi, the head of the Levev Shalem High Yeshiva in Yeruham - where Daniel studied. Yesterday, the IDF allowed the publication that Daniel, the armor officer, fell in battle on October 7 - and since then his body has been held by Hamas in Gaza.

Daniel was born in South Africa and when he was 13 his family immigrated to Israel.

"He came to us as a new immigrant. He didn't know the language. He didn't have an easy time in his studies because of that, but he fought," continued Rabbi Jacobi's book about him, "He fought to raise his profile after he was injured in a surfing accident and became an armored officer. He didn't give in to external dictates and pressures But do it with a lot of humor."

Rabbi Jacobi told about the determination that characterized Daniel: "He really wanted to be whole with himself, to bring his inner world to light. After he was kidnapped, I heard from his father a story from the age of 12, who came to him and told him that he was going to do something that he wouldn't like and that his father would say in advance what The punishment he would receive. His father answered that he would not do it. And Daniel answered that he only asked what the punishment was, because he would do the deed. His father thought and gave a punishment, and Daniel answered that the punishment deprived him of free choice and asked for another one. When he set out for something, he did it to the end."

"He really liked his role, the tank, he liked being a commander."

The rabbi confirmed the efforts for his recovery: "In the last few months, on Fridays, there was a regular run by Yad Binyamin to raise awareness of Daniel and the two kidnapped crew members who were with him, Itay Chen and Matan Angrest."

And added details about the moments of the battle on the morning of Black Saturday: "From what the family understood, the team probably waged a war between one and two hours against the terrorists to prevent entry to Nahal Oz until it was hit by an IED."

Immigrating to Israel brought Daniel even closer to his older brother, Yonatan, who is two years older than him, and a special and deep bond was formed between the two - according to his relatives.

"About two weeks after Daniel was kidnapped by the terrorist organization Hamas, his brother, Yonatan, stood under the canopy and did not stop thinking about his younger brother. He repeated and said: 'I can't believe that Daniel is not here. I can't believe it.'"

Before learning of his death, his brothers said: "Daniel is a young man full of life, surrounded by friends and loves extreme sports. He likes to run and is always in shape. An older brother who likes to spend time and laugh with his younger sisters. He is funny, smart and always there to help those who need it."

"I believed he was alive to this day. He was an amazing child," said Oz Hazan, Daniel's friend from the yeshiva who had difficulty accepting the news of his death.

"He connected with everyone very quickly when he immigrated to Israel and arrived at the yeshiva. He knew how to love certain things and nurture them, whether when he went out to the army and talked about it all the time, or in high school with the sports he really loved. He knew how to take them further than an ordinary person, his hobbies."

"He was a Liverpool football fan, water skiing. Most of us had already been released, but he stayed to be an officer. He had dilemmas here and there but he really liked his role, the tank, loved being a commander. His soldiers were important to him," he continued to the friend's book.

Oz added details about Daniel's last moments on October 7: "The last contact with him was around 09:30 when he went up in front of his MP and since then they lost contact with him.

They left the outpost, climbed a dome, saw that terrorists were coming, retreated back and fought from the outpost.

Until now, when they said he was killed on October 7, they didn't know exactly what happened."

Peretz was a platoon commander in the 77th battalion of the "Saar Megolan" formation.

The rabchar determined his death after examining all the findings and based on reliable information. The findings that were found allow, according to the Halacha, to bring Peretz to burial.

The head of the Nahal Sorek Regional Council, Shai Reichner, wrote on Facebook that "'Death has risen through our windows.'

Shocked and pained, we have now been informed that Capt. Daniel Peretz, a resident of Yad Binyamin, who until now was defined as a kidnapper, was announced today as an IDF soldier who fell during the battle on October 7. Dear Peretz family, the entire Nahal Sorek community grieves with you for the terrible disaster. We all We prayed and wished for a miracle and share in the unimaginable sorrow for your loss from the bitter news that was symbolically received precisely today, the 7th of Adar - the day of remembrance for the martyrs of Israel's systems whose place of burial is unknown. May Daniel's soul be wrapped in the bundle of life."

Just last Shabbat evening, Daniel's father and sister spoke at a rally in the "Hatofim square".

"I appeal to the government of Israel: there is no more simple and clear contract between a government and its leaders and its citizens. 164 days and still 134 abductees. All of them are humanitarian, return them all now," Father Doron said and turned to the US president: "I appreciate your standing by our side in the most difficult moments us since the holocaust, but I'm turning to you in regards to the humanitarian move.

A humanitarian move is the most important, 134 of the children, their parents and grandparents are in Gaza and they must return unconditionally, no conditions should be placed on human trafficking and kidnapping, this is something that we as Jews are obligated to return as a humanitarian move.

Each and every one of the abductees who were taken from their cradles, from their beds, in defense of their people, must return unconditionally."

Just last Saturday night, Daniel's father and sister spoke at a rally at the "Kar Hatofim"/official website, headquarters of the families of the abductees

Shira, Daniel's sister, said that "in a box of belongings that were brought back from my brother's base in Nahal Oz, we found his personal diary and were exposed to another side of Daniel that we were less familiar with. He writes that after his visit to the extermination camps in Poland, he understood the importance of a Jewish state and the duty to protect the family And about the homeland and he writes, 'If not me, then who?'. Daniel I love you so much, miss you endlessly and expect the Israeli government to return you home immediately along with all the abductees without exception."
