The beginning of spring is just around the corner - but you no longer have to tell the temperatures that.

The 20 degree mark is likely to fall soon.

Munich – The meteorological start of spring was on March 1st, the calendar start is on Wednesday, March 20th.

And when it comes to which of the two dates is right, the matter is pretty clear.

In Bavaria it has been pleasantly mild across the board for the last two weeks, with temperatures barely falling below the ten-degree mark during the day.

How does it go from here?

Weather in Bavaria: The start of the calendar spring will be warm and dry

For lovers of mild temperatures there is little reason to complain in the coming days.

Meteorologist Dominik Jung presents the current weather forecast for Bavaria in the current

wetternet

video on YouTube.

On Monday evening, March 18th, it was still comparatively cool - eleven degrees in Upper Bavaria, twelve degrees in Franconia.

It is also expected to rain in the southwest of the Free State.

On Tuesday, March 19th, temperatures climbed to 14 degrees around Munich and 16 degrees around Nuremberg with light clouds and lots of sun.

The call of spring is getting louder - it won't be long before the 20 degree mark will fall in Bavaria.

Wednesday, March 20th, the calendar spring is here, and it brings high temperatures with it: between 16 degrees in the south and 17 degrees in the north of Bavaria with few clouds in the sky.

On Thursday, March 21st, slight disillusionment around the state capital - only 15 degrees.

In Nuremberg it will be 18 degrees, according to the

wetternet

forecast.

On Friday, March 22nd, Upper Bavaria will follow suit and it will be 18 to 19 degrees warm throughout the Free State.

There will be some rain at the weekend with a slight drop in temperature.

Outlook for April and May – what will spring 2024 be like?

The current March is again significantly warmer than average.

According to qualified meteorologist Jung, March 2024 has so far had an average temperature of 6.9 degrees - the average is only 4.6 degrees.

And with current forecasts, it is unlikely that the next record will be set this month, following, among other things, the warmest February and warmest winter on record.

In the

wetternet

video, Jung also takes a look at the first April and May forecasts from the various weather models.

The CFS is predicting a very warm April - throughout the Free State it is expected to be at least one to two degrees warmer than the new climate average for the years 1991 to 2020.

May is also expected to be warmer than usual.

In the south of Bavaria around 0.5 to one degree warmer than average, in the north of the Free State one to two degrees warmer - that is the current forecast according to the CFS model.

It remains to be seen what the weather will actually be like in spring - but given the past few weeks, the current forecasts are at least not surprising.
