Artificial intelligence, or rather that set of technological solutions whose purpose is to simulate the processes of the human mind, has the power to transform and "increase" every aspect of our lives and, as such, requires to be used with awareness, vision, clear objectives and shared rules, possibly on a global scale.
This is just one of the important messages that emerge from reading "The governance of artificial intelligence - Risk management and responsible innovation" (Cacucci Editore, 148 pages, 13 euros), the latest book by Ruben Razzante, scholar and professor of law of information at the Catholic University of Milan, published by Cacucci Editore.
«The volume intends to offer a contribution of ideas to the now incandescent debate that has developed on the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) - writes Razzante in the preface - combining scientific contents with technical-applicative analyzes focused on the multiple uses that AI is recording in the various sectors of social, economic and political life."
The book also contains an essay by Professor Antonio Albanese, Professor of Civil Law at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, and opens with a preface signed by Alessio Butti, Undersecretary of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with responsibility for Innovation.
In it the author lists and analyzes the wide spectrum of pros and cons deriving from the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in key sectors of contemporary society, to give a timely and balanced account of the challenges, opportunities and risks (including those concerning privacy, data security and fairness in access to advanced technologies), which emerge from the adoption of AI in multiple fields: from public administration to healthcare, from education to journalism and information, from the protection of rights (copyright, privacy, reputation, equality and equal access) to finance through sectors such as automotive, agri-food, environment, culture, leisure, tourism, sport.
