The city has received 35 proposals for the citizens' budget, which the town hall is now checking for admissibility.
Garching – The city has received 35 suggestions from Garching residents on how the 100,000 euros from the citizens' budget can be invested sensibly.
From the start of the project via the online portal ( Beteiligung.garching.de/buergerbudget) on February 5th until the end of the proposal phase a few days ago, locals were able to contribute ideas for shaping community life in Garching.
“I knew that the topic of citizen budgeting was a big one in Garching and that people wanted to get involved here.
But I didn't expect that so many submissions would be made for our first citizens' budget!" says Kevin Huber, who is responsible for the project at the Garching town hall, which is launched every two years with a volume of 100,000 euros .
“Everyone can make a valuable contribution”
The people of Garching would like a dirt park for mountain bikes, a roof for the bicycle parking spaces at Garching schools, a meeting point for the Dirnismaning district, a fenced dog meadow in the Bürgerpark, urban gardening and an upgrade of the community and town hall square.
All entries can be viewed in the portal.
“I am sure: everyone who lives in Garching can make a valuable contribution to the development of our city – and should also be given the opportunity to implement this,” says Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD).
The city administration is now checking the proposals for admissibility.
A proposal must serve the common good, be feasible, not exceed the budget and not entail disproportionately high follow-up costs.
In addition, responsibility for implementation must lie with the city of Garching.
After the test, things get exciting again: From May 6th to June 2nd, the people of Garching will vote on all permissible proposals.
