Former mayor Hermann Floritz has died.

Hermann Floritz died at the weekend.

The former mayor of Apfeldorf was 85 years old.

Apfeldorf – Former mayor Hermann Floritz only turned 85 at the end of February – now the former Apfeldorf community leader died on Saturday.

Floritz was mayor of Apfeldorf from 1996 to 2008.

Many important projects were realized during his term of office.

The first major project that he implemented as mayor was the construction of the canal and the sewage treatment plant with the neighboring community of Kinsau.

The expansion of the gymnasium into a multi-purpose hall with a stage extension was also one of his projects.

The village renewal also began during Floritz's term of office - during this time the church square and the war memorial were redesigned.

Apfeldorf's former mayor Hermann Floritz was always conscientious and prudent

Although he carried out his office as a volunteer, Floritz worked as a full-time mayor and invested a lot of time in the community.

He worked with the utmost precision and liked to personally check on the construction sites that everything was going well, whereby the community benefited from the specialist knowledge of the trained bricklayer and former building contractor.

He always led the local council meetings diplomatically and prudently.

Before that, he was a member of the local council for a long time: from 1972 to 1984 and from 1990 to 1993.

In retirement, Floritz created a unique miniature museum at home with lots of self-made agricultural objects, which he constantly expanded.

He worked there until the end.

Floritz had to help out with his parents' farming from an early age: his father died in the war, so his help was necessary even as a small boy.

Floritz leaves behind his wife Helga, two daughters and three grandchildren.
