The Archehof in Otterfing would like to expand its offering for school classes.
However, a change of use is required for the planned climbing wall in the barn.
The building committee delegated the decision to the local council.
Otterfing – The Archehof Schlickenrieder practices organic farming and offers locations for celebrations.
The farm on Markweg is also known as a farm learning location for school classes, among others - and as such the company is now aiming high: a climbing hall, divided into three areas, is to be built in the northern area of the stable.
The corresponding application from farmer Georg Schlickenrieder now concerned the local council's building committee.
Because too many questions remained unanswered, the committee delegated the decision to the local council.
Offer is intended to promote holistic development of children
As stated in the application, the new Archehof climbing hall is intended to complement the range of activities on the farm by specifically promoting the holistic development of the children.
Regardless of the weather, students could improve their fitness, practice teamwork and gain self-confidence through climbing.
Three areas are planned: In the northeast, experienced climbers can climb far up using the safety rope; in the south, beginners and children will find a bouldering area with simple holds and routes.
Experienced boulderers and older children can try out more challenging routes on the upper floor, the third area.
Changing rooms and a toilet are located on the ground floor, and a kitchen and a dining table complete the furnishings.
According to the application, the shell of the barn will remain unchanged.
It is unclear whether Halle is also open to local DAV
A detailed operator concept was not available to the committee at the meeting.
The justification for the application states that the hall will be opened “in consultation with the school classes”;
Supervisors would have to organize the students' companions.
The farm hopes that the climbing offering will boost awareness and increase visitor numbers.
It is unclear whether the hall is also open to the local Alpine club.
“The DAV is looking for a bouldering area,” said Mayor Michael Falkenhahn (SPD), “but I don’t know whether that’s planned there.”
A specific change in the use of the barn has been requested.
From Falkenhahn's point of view, the decisive factor for eligibility for approval is the agricultural office's assessment of whether the climbing hall falls under the building law privilege of a farm.
Roberto Sottanelli (SPD) did not want to make his decision dependent on this alone.
“We don’t know what will happen next.
I'm missing an operator concept.” Applicant Schlickenrieder, himself a member of the committee for the CSU parliamentary group, sat in the hall but did not take part in the debate or vote.
No vote in the building committee
Unlike Sottanelli, Ulrike Stockmeier (FLO) had no further need for information.
“We don’t swim in a climbing hall, we climb,” she explained, “what exactly is planned there is none of our business.” Thomas Hogger (Greens) was even pleased “that a sports offering is being created here without any costs to the community arise".

However, there was no vote in the committee.
Since three members, Sottanelli, Susanne Weitl (CSU) and the mayor, spoke out in favor of presenting the matter to the entire municipal council, the request is placed on the agenda for the next plenary session.
