The Wolfratshausen alliance “Together for Democracy and Diversity” practiced creative protest with 80 participants on Friday evening.

Wolfratshausen – The third major event of the “Together for Democracy and Diversity” alliance took place on Friday evening.

It was significantly less attended than the first light demonstration in Wolfratshausen's old town and the subsequent cyclist protest at Neuer Platz in Geretsried.

Organization manager Rita Wahl thanked the around 80 participants all the more on the sports field in front of the gym on Hammerschmiedweg in Wolfratshausen.

“Every single person is important,” emphasized the native Lithuanian.

The educator has lived in Germany for 28 years now, works at a school and is committed to the group of asylum seekers, including as an interpreter for refugees from Ukraine.

The electoral success of the AfD, which the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has classified as right-wing extremist in many places, has not only worried them.

Wolfgang Saal from Waldram came to such a rally once again.

“Many still believe that none of this affects them: we have the problem right on our doorstep,” he told our newspaper when asked.

In this context, Saal recalled the high AfD vote shares in some polling stations in Geretsried and Waldram.

For him and Rita Wahl it is now important to be loud and visible.

That's why the alliance called on Friday for people to take artificial hearts, drums, wooden spoons, pots and other noise instruments with them.

“We want to show the right-wing extremists in our country that our heart beats for democracy and diversity and not for a dictatorship,” explained Wahl.

She had asked the demonstrators in advance to avoid inflammatory slogans and to refrain from displaying posters with defamatory slogans.

“Pay attention to your vocabulary!” she warned.

Afterwards, loud banging of pots and drum rolls could be heard for about five minutes.

The participants - among them the third mayor Annette Heinloth (Greens) and city councilor Dr.

Patrick Lechner (FDP) – formed a circle and held hands.

Peace activist Hans Gärtner sang militant songs on his guitar.

The refrain “Defend yourself, resist fascism here in the country, stick together” is likely to be heard at the alliance's next campaign: On Friday, April 5th, co-initiator Martin Lorenz is planning a cycling rally to the Death March Memorial on the cycle path in Gelting-Buchberg.

Meanwhile, some children and young people of different skin colors appeared unimpressed by the action at the adjacent sports field.

They simply played football and were happy in each other's arms after scoring goals.

In doing so, they have fulfilled the covenant's requirement in their own way.

“We have to live this bond,” said Rita Wahl, referring to the young footballers.
