"The Pnrr has allocated huge resources to public and private beneficiaries, a total of 2.1 billion euros, for the modernization and construction of new recycling plants, so as to create new supply chains of raw materials from waste. This aspect is of particular importance for Italy which, as is known, is a transformative country because it is poor in raw materials".
This was stated by the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, Claudio Barbaro, at a conference in the Senate on the occasion of World Recycling Day.
"In Italy the recycling sector is an industrial supply chain of excellence, recognized at a European level, which will be strengthened by the investments and reforms of the Pnrr - added Barbaro -. Due to the importance it represents, the ministry has been working for some time on identifying regulatory tools, technical and financial that can support the ecological transition of the sector. We have equipped ourselves with a National Plan for waste management which dictates the criteria to be used for the development of regional plans, in compliance with the constitutional division. Furthermore, we have prepared the update of the Prevention Plan of Waste which will soon be published".
