Dangerous incident shortly before Grafing train station: An Intercity collided with a construction machine in front of Grafing train station.

- At around 2:20 a.m. on Monday, March 18th, according to the Munich Federal Police, the IC 460 was on its way from Vienna via Rosenheim to Munich when it collided with construction machinery in front of Grafing train station.

Construction work was taking place on platform 3 in Grafing station, for which a so-called “pushing machine” was used.

According to the federal police, it was in the rail area at the time of the collision.

170 travelers in the Intercity - all uninjured

The “pushing machine” is used for track grinding.

There were 170 passengers in the Intercity who were uninjured.

The pushcart was totally damaged.

The IC was only partially operational.

However, he was able to continue his journey independently at low speed.

At the main train station in Munich, the passengers were able to leave the train at around five o'clock and from there continue their journey to Stuttgart (final stop of the IC 460).

Federal police are investigating

On the morning of Monday, March 18th, federal police railway investigators began investigations into a dangerous interference with rail traffic, according to a statement.

Among other things, it is important to clarify why the IC was on track 3 and whether construction work was taking place on it at the time of the collision.

According to initial investigations, the locomotive and three other Intercity cars were also damaged.

“It is currently not possible to provide any information about the extent of the damage,” said a spokesman for the Munich office.
